About Genesis
Genesis stands for creation; the building of everything from nothing, the beginning of human society. It is derived from a biblical story about the day when the earth was created and life took shape.

It aptly describes this business plan competition, which is about "initiating innovations" that combine enterprise with social responsibility.

Starting a business means starting from scratch and working your way through a maze of problems, the biggest of which are generally the capital required and lack of sufficient guidance. Genesis plans to encourage budding entrepreneurs by providing them the required guidance and financial incentives. What makes Genesis different from other run-of-the-mill B-Plan competitions is the underlying social message. The intent is to use the zeal and creativity of budding entrepreneurs for the greater good.

The competition also aims to develop an eco-system surrounding social entrepreneurship that brings together students, NGOs, incubators, social entrepreneurs, venture-capitalists and corporations. The focus is on developing a symbiotic relationship among a group of individuals having different skill-sets but who are driven by same ideals and can aid in capturing, enhancing and disseminating knowledge on social entrepreneurship.
