VJIM is an autonomous institute approved by All India Council for Technical Education for award of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), PGDM- Marketing, PGDM- General and PGDM-Business Economics.
The PGDM programs at VJIM, aims to create holistic managers, synthesizing conventional and modern management thinking with global outlook. VJIM equips students with sound knowledge of all core business skills, together with the ability to manage creatively from a strategic perspective within the context of ethical standards. Appreciating the pace and direction of changes in international business education, the course structure at VJIM is constantly updated in line with changing needs of the business world. Students at VJIM are presented with opportunities to consider and evaluate business problems and policy issues, which prepare them thoroughly to play a positive role in any business situation which calls for management skills of high caliber. The institute is consistently ranked amongst the top 50 B-Schools by various rating agencies.
Eligibility: Only legitimate B-School, Universities and the Colleges are allowed to participate in the competition. Each B-School/University/College may nominate maximum two teams.

(a) First Prize : Rs 20,000
(b) Second Prize : Rs 15,000
(c) Third Prize : Rs 10,000
Teams: Each team will consist of two students.
Entry Fee: There is no entry fee for the competition.
Registration: This is an Institutional level competition. Maximum 24 teams will participate in the competition. Teams need to register in advance by filling an entry form (format attached). All entry forms to be endorsed by the appropriate authority of the institute. Individual entry forms shall not be entertained. Team registration will be strictly on first come first serve basis. Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management will not be responsible for any postal delay, transit losses or mutilation of entry form or any other subsequent correspondence with the institute/University/college. Teams may submit scanned copy of filled in entry forms duly authenticated by Director\Dean\Principal of their college through email at kalicharan.sabat@vjim.edu.in . Teams selected for the competition shall be informed by 01 Feb 2011. Outstation candidates will be provided accommodation on first-come-first-served basis, for a fee of Rs 500/- per team/day, which should be paid by DD, favoring "Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management", payable at Hyderabad.
Conduct of the Competition: The competition will be conducted in two rounds as under:
Round 1 (8th Feb 2011): 24 Teams selected for the competition on the basis of first come first serve shall be grouped into four groups consisting of six teams each.
Teams shall debate in their own groups and four best teams shall be selected for the finals. Topics for this round shall be sent to the participating teams in advance. One member of team will speak for the motion and other against the motion. Order of team will be decided through a draw. At the end of this phase topic for the Final round shall be announced.
Final Round (9th Feb 2011): There will be four teams, eight speakers in final. One member of each team will defend the resolution and the other oppose it. At this stage essentially teams cease to exist and individuals shall be competing each others. Format for this round of debate essentially remains the same except that speakers shall be allowed to interject and each speaker would answer one question from the audience.
Debaters' Conduct: All Competitors are expected to adhere to the debate rules and conduct themselves with dignity. A debater who attempts to dominate or be rude to his opponents will lose points, desperation is not persuasive.
Judging: Two judges shall be present at each debate. They have the responsibility to judge each debate in a fair and responsible manner. Decision made by the judges are final.
Evaluation Criteria: Debates will be evaluated on the following criteria:-
• Contents: Relevance of the constructive and rebuttal arguments to the topic and provision of sufficient and accurate proof to support arguments when necessary.
• Logical and orderly presentation of arguments.
• Rebutting/Answering Question: Ability to expose the weaknesses of the opponents in an effective and constructive manner, direct response to an opponent's question and to critically analyze opponent arguments and develop a sound counter argument.
• Delivery: Understandability and clarity of debaters, persuasiveness, effective use of body language, tone eye contact and timeliness.
Reporting & Arrival: All members of selected teams are required to report at 0845 hrs on 08 Feb 2012 at Registration counter at Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM) positively. Failure to report in time will disqualify the team.
